Real Ale Brewing Co. - Hans Pils
"You might say, a great beer is man’s other best friend. So when we made this German-style pilsner, it just made sense to name it after the brewery’s dog, Hans — our owner’s German Shorthair Pointer. Inspired by the pilsner beers of Northern Germany, Hans is crisp, brightly hoppy and full of flavor. At 50 IBUs and featuring Tettnang hops, it’s even hoppier than many pale ales. The German malt helps create a nice pale golden color and provides the perfect companion to the hops."

Austin Beerworks - Flavor Country
"When we began in 2011 it was impossible to brew this Hoppy Pale Ale. The ingredients weren’t available and the science didn’t exist. Oil rich lupulin powder was just a dream. It brings intense flavor but doesn’t linger, drinks like a hop forward pale ale but doesn’t blow you up and every sip leaves you craving more. It’s so special we had to invent a whole new country to explain it. Welcome."

Hops & Grain - The One They Call Zoe
"Zoe is brewed in a mildly traditional manner, very similar to many of the German lagers of the old world but dry-hopped to add an extra layer of complexity. This beer is based on pale and Vienna malts, light to golden in color with a beautiful white layer of foam resting on top, constantly delivering floral and citrus dry-hop aromatics with every sip. Zoe is meant to be paired with, well, life! With notes of lightly toasted bread, floral hops and an incredibly smooth finish we hope that Zoe is everything that you’ve been searching for in a pale lager."

Live Oak - Lichtenhainer
Lichtenhainer is a German beer style that vanished in the 1980s. Similar in strength and tartness to Berliner Weisse, this beer adds the intriguing aroma of smoked malt. Fermentation with yeast and Lactobacillus creates an acidic profile. The low bitterness and high level of carbonation allows for full enjoyment of the subtle lemony acid and smoke flavors. Please enjoy this historical re-creation.

Austin Beerworks - Wet Hop IPA (simcoe)
Easily, the most special brew in the series because this can only happen once a year. Last year it was a Thursday. On the day our farmer in Oregon harvests the Centennial hops we start brewing. He boxes them up, kisses the label and ships them via Southwest Airlines Cargo (faster than FedEx). So within 12 hours of being picked it’s dropped into the kettle. That’s a wet hop. It’s the greenest, brightest, extra juiciest flavor that you can’t duplicate any other way. The sooner you drink it, the fresher the flavor. Don’t cherish this one – drink up!

(512) Pecan Porter
Nearly black in color, (512) Pecan Porter is made with Organic US 2-row and copious amounts of Crystal malt, along with Baird’s Chocolate and Black malts. Its full body and malty sweetness are balanced with subtle pecan aroma and flavor from locally grown pecans. Yet another true Austin original!
Real Ale - Imperium Persicum
The complex interplay of an IPA and wild yeast has been a long-time favorite in our Mysterium Verum program. With the blending of subtle funk and stone fruit, Imperium has showcased the range of unique and delicate character that Brettanomyces can bring to an otherwise intensely hopped ale. With Imperium Persicum, we've taken this a step further, adding to this already fantastic foray into the fruity wilds. After 12 months of secondary fermentation in oak, fresh peaches are added to the barrels and allowed to ferment to dryness. The end result is a delightfully dry and funky ale with notes of peach and apricot.
Hops & Grain - Bangin' Pale
A patio-drinkin' pale ale brewed with dry English yeast and dry-hopped with Chinook & Mosaic. 4.5%ABV makes this a crushable brew!

Not to be confused with its maltier sibling, the Marzen lager; this golden modern day Oktoberfest style lager is the preferred style for the Oktoberfest celebration in Munich, Germany. It’s crisp yet malt forward mouthfeel is achieved using German Augustiner Yeast and a proper fermentation and lagering schedule lasting 2 months.

SMaSH stands for Single Malt and Single Hop. This is a new series where we’ll explore certain individual hops against a common single malt background. The hop is selected from those already in use in other beers so we can explore the flavor and aroma of each hop individually. Very little, if any, malt sweetness and bright fruity hops make for a refreshing drink that’s easy to enjoy. We hope you do.

Austin Beerworks - Black Thunder
Jordan. Zeppelin. Jon Snow. Like the greats, Black Thunder is back! This is one of our favorite beers of all time – and our most award winning. In hindsight, maybe brewing a black beer with a bold name was a bit much for the average beer drinker. But you knew. You weren’t intimidated. You understood this is a Schwarzbeir (also an intimidating name) - a classic German black lager. Like Pearl Snap. In fact it basically is Pearl Snap with dark malts added. But you knew that. Well now it’s only available for a limited time and you know not to miss its heralded comeback.
